ACB HIV/AIDS Awareness Day
An invite from HIV Edmonton (HIVE) to
African, Caribbean, & Black (ACB) Canadian HIV/AIDS Awareness Day!
The purpose of the event is to help raise awareness of HIV related issues within ACB communities and to highlight different initiatives locally and globally that work to build resilient communities. Although from the beginning of the HIV epidemic black people and others of African decent have been disproportionately affected, and the virus has destroyed many communities, this event will create a space to celebrate and discuss the incredible resilience ACB communities across the world have exhibited, and lessons learned throughout this process.
During the event there will be performances from various groups, including a band called “MelAfrique”, who are known for their incredible Afro-Caribbean sound, and dance performances from a traditional Rwandan dance troupe. Below is the link to register; please register as soon as possible, as space is limited. Service providers who work with ACB communities, and community members who are simply interested in understanding the dynamics of HIV within ACB communities are encouraged to attend; all are very welcome!
