SmartConnections is a model which helps Internationally Trained Professionals in creating sustainable career paths, whether within or outside their field of expertise.
You will have the chance to meet with representatives from APEGA, ASET, and the Government of Alberta who will provide updates on the professional accreditation processes and as well as valuable information on available resources for engineering professionals.
“How to understand the criteria by which you are being measured” is a panel discussion made up of top Human Resources specialists based here in Edmonton representing Stantec, Enbridge, City of Edmonton and Robert Half Management Resources and Lafarge. The panel will provide insights on the screening process, the job interview and the expectations of the Canadian employers when hiring internationally trained professionals.
Smart Connections participants will also have the opportunity to hear a presentation from Matt Adolphe, the author of « Canadian Workplace Culture : Mastering the Unspoken Rules » – a guide to expectations in the workplace. Matt is an experienced course facilitator who has developed communication courses for immigrants and job seekers who are looking for success. He teaches a variety of professional courses for the oil and gas industry as well as the education sector, focusing mostly on building strong communication skills in the workplace.
