FALL/WINTER PUBLIC WORKSHOPS November 2018 – January 2019

The Centre for Race and Culture invites you to join them for their inaugural offering of public workshops aiming to provide effective and unique perspectives to assist businesses, organizations, communities and individuals who are looking to address the challenges and opportunities that diversity and inclusion present. All of our training incorporates an interactive design, with outcomes-focused learning based on proven adult education techniques. Registration is now open for:

Introduction to Unconscious Bias

Friday November 23, 2018; 9 am to noon

Facilitator: Candy Khan

In this interactive workshop, you will develop your understanding of what unconscious bias is, increase your self-awareness, get up to speed with the latest research on unconscious bias, and learn some simple strategies to notice and counter your biases.

Strategies to Address Unconscious Bias

Friday November 30, 2018; 9 am to noon

Facilitator: Candy Khan & Karen Yong

Building on introductory learnings, we know that biases are malleable and steps can be taken to limit their impacts. Through case studies and interactive exercises, you will work to further identify and mitigate your biases and assumptions.

Respectful Workplace Training – the Bully, Bullied and Bystander

Friday January 25, 2019; 9 am to noon

Facilitator: Candy Khan & Karen Yong

Employees and supervisors contribute to respectful workplaces by taking responsibility for their own actions and their effect on others. This workshop covers essential skills in recognizing behaviours that constitute workplace harassment, and provides a template to develop a strategy for designing a policy and complaint resolution process.

All workshops are held at the Edmonton Intercultural Centre, 9538 107 Ave, Edmonton. Registration fees are $85/workshop (if cost is a concern for you, please contact us about a fee reduction).

A certificate of completion will be issued for each workshop.
