Shreyans: A Mentee Story
My mentor followed a strategic approach towards targeting my job preferences as well as career development.
My mentor followed a strategic approach towards targeting my job preferences as well as career development.
I immigrated to Canada from Africa in October, 2009 and landed straight away in Vancouver. As a new immigrant I did not know what to expect.
Ten years ago, Svetlana Pavlenko and her husband were invited by the Canadian Government to bring their skills, knowledge, and expertise to Alberta. This was the opportunity of a lifetime, so they left their friends, family, and jobs behind in Siberia to move to Canada.
I arrived in Canada and received the “warmest” of welcomes. I came from the Philippines and arrived at Fort McMurray eight days before the wildfire.
I can see myself land in my area of professional expertise in the near future. I extend my sincere thanks for ERIEC and its staff for all their passionate efforts in matching immigrant professionals with mentors who are well acquainted with the Canadian labour market.
