Nicole Nebril: A Mentee Story
Coming to Canada is both an opportunity and a sacrifice to me. It’s an opportunity because I thought I would have a bigger chance to wider my career path.
Coming to Canada is both an opportunity and a sacrifice to me. It’s an opportunity because I thought I would have a bigger chance to wider my career path.
I arrived in Canada in July 2015 to join my husband who was living in Alberta. After a short period of rest, I decided I would begin job hunting. Being a newcomer to Canada, I had no idea where to begin my search.
I came to Edmonton in October 2014 from UK. Through a networking event, I got to know about ERIEC, and I decide to apply to the Career Mentorship Program in June 2015.
I finally got the job and am very grateful to ERIEC for matching me with an excellent mentor like Dorothy. I would like to encourage newcomers to Edmonton to contact ERIEC for their Career Mentorship Program.
At ERIEC, I was paired with an amazing mentor, who was generous with her time and advice. She coached me on job search strategies, interviewing skills and because she had also immigrated to Canada, she empathized with my challenges.
