Two of ERIEC staff members had the opportunity to participate in a Learning Exchange for the National Connector Program in Halifax, Nova Scotia, October 30th and 31st, 2017.
ERIEC Networking Director, Elena Chernaeva said “It was great to listen and share with coordinators from various Connector Programs operating across Canada. We learned that each program is unique in its’ program delivery and that we’re all facing similar types of challenges”.
Violeta Mariscal, ERIEC’s new Connector Program Coordinator also enjoyed the Halifax event. “We picked up tips on how to run effective Speed Career Networking and Speed Interview events as well as how to apply different tactics and strategies in order to succeed with employers in different regions. We also learned how to avoid “employer fatigue” and not utilizing repeat mentors and connectors, as shared by participants. She added, “We were invited to The Game Changer Awards Gala which is an annual Halifax Partnership event recognizing business leader Connectors.
The main message coming from all the testimonials could be summarized by this statement: “Meeting my Connector for 30 minutes changed my life!”
