Oliver Kamua, a dedicated partner!

Oliver moved to Canada twenty years ago to pursue his graduate studies from Kenya. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology/Literature, Education, and a Master’s degree in Drama. Currently, Oliver is the Manager at Edmonton Immigrant Services Association (EISA) and oversees various Settlement Services Programs. Prior to his role with EISA, he worked at Centre for Race and Culture (CRC), for five years developing programs on racial discrimination, diversity and equity issues. Among the programs he developed included: Youth Anti-Racism Project, Peace Ambassadors, Bamboo Shield and Keshotu Leadership Academy.

Oliver believes in meaningful engagement and is happily involved in a number of AAISA/IRCC project committees such as Helping Immigrant Succeed (HIS); Children and Youth, Settlement Dashboard, and Social Connections. He is additionally active in the community from serving on a couple of community boards such as HIV/AIDS Edmonton, Edmonton Social Planning Council, Council of Africans of African and Caribbean Heritage, Kenyan Community Association of Edmonton to name a few.

He is a past recipient of RISE Community Leadership Award (2014), Medal of Excellence from MacEwan University (2015), Afro-Canadian Community Leader of the Year (2017) to name a few.

He is happily married with 2 kids, Annette and John.
