The Career Mentorship Program (CMP) matches newcomer immigrant professionals (mentees) in the Edmonton region with established professionals and local business leaders/employers (mentors) who share a similar occupational background and create networks through real-life connections and experience.
Varun Nayak recalls before moving to Canada in February of 2022, he spent 12 years working in different sectors in the manufacturing, construction, and logistics sectors.
“I was redirected to ERIEC by a pre-arrival organization funded by the Government of Canada. I was then put in contact with someone from ERIEC who guided me once I landed in Edmonton, Alberta. I attended their information session the following day after my landing. This session helped me to understand with the Canadian culture and the way of working in Canada. Although the sessions were virtual, they were still very insightful and effective due to active facilitation by the ERIEC coordinators, staff, volunteers, and participants”.
“I would especially like to thank Sarah for sharing her knowledge about job search and resume writing during the one-on-one interview session. I would also like to thank Gustave for his continuous support and active coordination before every scheduled event. I would also like to make special mention to April, for always being there as a support for all my questions to understand the Canadian job market”.
