Where will you be on Thursday, February 28th, 2013? I know where I’m going to be! I will be joining with over 100 immigrant professionals and 40+ local professionals from the finance, IT and engineering sectors in the Edmonton area to learn something (maybe more than one thing) new! Why, you ask? Well, the 14,000+ immigrants who come to Edmonton each year often find it difficult to find a job in their professional field, access the Canadian job market, connect with employers, gain Canadian work experience and adapt to Canadian business culture. On February 28th at the 2013 Edmonton Global Talent Conference, immigrant professionals will have an opportunity to network and learn together with Edmonton business leaders and experts from licensing bodies, educational institutions, professional associations and also their peers – successfully established skilled immigrants.
Discussion panels, professional development seminars and a Marketplace filled with exhibitors who are anxious to have some face time with the internationally-trained professionals in attendance will all function as vehicles for networking and learning from each other.
But what is ‘networking’? The Merriam Webster dictionary defines this term as “the exchange of information or services among individuals, groups, or institutions; specifically: the cultivation of productive relationships for employment or business”. Simply put, this conference is a forum for information exchange and relationship building for the purpose of career development by immigrant professionals and for learning related to improved talent attraction and retention by Edmonton employers simply by interacting with one another. To be able to work together efficiently and effectively, we need to be willing to learn from each other!
That’s why ERIEC has arranged professional development seminars on topics like:
If you’re an internationally trained professional in Edmonton and you haven’t registered yet, you need to register TODAY before the conference is SOLD OUT!!!
Come and join me to learn something new!
