On a warm Saturday afternoon on May 30th, more than 200 volunteers fanned out across the Emily Murphy Park to participate in the 10th annual TELUS Days of Giving.
The ERIEC staff volunteered at 200% for this exciting event! How, you ask, can we reach such a high percentage of participation? Well quite simple actually, we were all joined by our significant ones. Our valuable volunteer Vianny (professional IT who hails originally from Columbia and now makes her home in Sherwood Park) was also part of the ERIEC team that day.
Armed with gloves and bags, we cleared the trails and riverbank, over ‘hill and dale’ we picked up litter and trash throughout the park, collecting over 38 bags of garbage between 12 pm – 2 pm. Park staff, city employees and members of the public expressed thanks to all of us who volunteered that day in Emily Murphy Park’s extreme makeover!
We would also like to thank TELUS for inviting us to this great community giving event and offering us the opportunity to donate our time and energy in turning our valley green spaces into clean spaces once again!
